How To Stop Procrastinating & Start Focussing On Your Online Business

27/03/2019

Do you ever feel like stuck? Do your procrastination habits distract you from starting that online business you’ve forever dreamed of? Let me share some tips with you that will help you become more focussed!

#1 Just Get Started

The thing should know about me, I usually dive in into what I want to try straight away. I believe that the timing is never perfect and if I want to achieve anything in my life- I must simply go for it. The more you plan, the more you postpone the actual ‘do’ part.

I’m not saying that impulsive decisions will always get you to the right place, but sometimes all you need to do is JUST START.

For this reason, I wanted to make things a bit easier for you & encourage you to at least give it a go. Trust me, you will learn everything you need to know along the way.

Building career online can open so many doors for you! I feel grateful every single day that I get to do this for a living. Here are just some of my favorite things I was able to do because of my blog and I really hope it will give you some inspiration to go for this:

• In the first year as a blogger, I was able to support myself fully while completing my bachelor degree. Even when I was crazy working on my dissertation, my online business brought me enough income to pay my bills and even to celebrate my graduation with some fancy bubbles!

• I then got to travel around New Zealand for almost two months while working from the back of a campervan & making a profit!

• I got to spend some memorable blogging time in New York City pretending to be Carrie Bradshaw and writing my top posts in Manhattan’s coffee shops.

• I get to travel the world with my fiance while still making money every step of the way.

• I bought a property funded 100% from my blogging business.

• I get to live anywhere I want because of my blog.

• I get to DREAM. Seriously, this is the best part- the sky has no limits when you’re a blogger!

I think that gives you an idea!

This was definitely the best decision I have ever made!

Ok, I know, I know…starting a blog might look like a hustle to you at this point, but in reality- it only takes 5 minutes… Crazy right?

All you need to do is follow this step by step tutorial that I put together for you. Just taking that first step might be what you need to get that ball rolling.

#2 Create A Routine

I know this doesn’t sound that exciting, but routine actually helps a lot in building a successful business and staying focussed. I noticed this from my own experience. Anytime my life is a bit out of order, I feel like it reflects on my business A LOT. I oversleep, I don’t pay enough attention to my e-mails, I just don’t have the energy to be my best self and well… I simply end up procrastinating.

Having a routine isn’t boring. It actually can bring so much needed structure to your days and give some extra space for you to do the things you love.

#3 Set Clear Goals

There’s no better time for creating your new goals than just now. Grab your notebook & list all of the tasks you wish to achieve during the next week/month/day. Setting clear goals for yourself can be the best thing you will do for your online business. If you feel like you need some extra help in the field, check out my consulting services. I’ve been helping other creatives build & maintain successful blogs for years. By now, I have a strong idea about what works on a blog and what doesn’t. Let me save your valuable time & guide you to the right track, just get in touch & we will get things going.

#4 Treat Yourself

We’re all kids inside & even a small treat can help us work better & faster. If I have a particularly busy day ahead, I plan an exciting evening, so I have something to look forward to and this really helps me keep focused. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Allowing yourself to catch up on your favorite TV show without any guilt is good enough!

#5 Try Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a Pomodoro, from the Italian word for ‘tomato’, after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student.

To use this method, all you need to do is set your timer for 25 minutes and do not allow any distractions into your work for the set period of time. Before running your timer, you should determine what you’re going to work on in those next 25 minutes & once you run out of time- you’re allowed to take 10 minutes break.

This technique can really help you focus on each task you need to complete, yet it still allows you to have some ‘you’ time in between completing your tasks for the day. Just give it a go!

Let me know if you’re currently trying to cut out procrastination out of your life in order to focus on your biz!
